Peoria Arizona’s New 83rd Ave Marketplace
This new business plaza called 83 Marketplace is under construction in the southeast corner of 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road in Peoria.

Deem Proper: A new locally owned restaurant and bar. The menu will feature "globally-inspired" items.
S & V Urban Italian: The restaurant has a Scottsdale location and offers traditional Italian cuisine with a modern, American twist. Their bar will have a selection of local beers and wine and a menu featuring wood-fired brick oven pizzas.
AVENIDA Modern Mexican: The newest concept from the local team behind Revolu Modern Taqueria + Bar in Peoria's P83 district. It will feature an upscale modern twist on Mexican food with a made-from-scratch food and drink menu.
Bagels on Fire: The first Arizona location for the bagel shop that got its start in Toronto. Its bagels are made boiled in honey water and baked in an open fire brick oven.
Katie Roe said the new restaurants joining the 83rd Marketplace project empowers Upper Westsiders.
She founded a group, dubbed Upper West Side PHX, to push back against the glut of chain restaurants and advocate for gathering spaces, unique local options, specialty restaurants and high-end commercial offerings.
"This really was one of the first examples of our work paying off," Roe said.

A new restaurant and retail hub called 83 Marketplace in north Peoria is scheduled to open late spring of 2019.

The restaurants are part of 83rd Marketplace, a plaza under construction at the southeast corner of 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road.
The plaza on a 9-acre site with indoor and outdoor dining, will also include about 50,000 square feet of retail shops.
The developer, MDC Land Development, is promising a family-friendly, pedestrian-oriented commercial center that'll serve as a go-to destination for the surrounding neighborhoods.

The developers behind the two commercial projects note some 153,000 people with average annual household incomes topping $100,000 live within a five-mile radius.
And more are coming. Nearly 3,000 new homes are projected to be built in the area over the next five years, according to city estimates.

Mayor Cathy Carlat said she's encouraged by Roe and other residents' involvement.
"It’s been amazing to watch neighborhoods become energized to attract the type of development they believe will elevate our city, and we look forward to seeing these private development projects come to life,” Carlat said.

Across the street, on the northeast corner of 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road, plans for the Trailhead commercial project are in the works.
This site will feature an upscale Safeway grocery store, a church, splash pad, a community garden and a pedestrian walkway to the Sunrise Mountain trailheads.
A restaurant tenant should be announced soon, according to Pederson Group, the commercial developer of the Trailhead.
The 25-acre project is planned to open in spring 2020.
